I know this really needs some work, but I'm excited about the possibility of it working. This is going to be a bit slow for an honor deck, I believe, but it might work. The biggest fault with this deck is that it's forced to split keywords almost 3 ways, between magistrate, shugenja, and courtier. Luckily, courtier is a small theme, and many of the magistrates have shugenja as well. The fact that I will usually only be defending with a single personality (or none!) also helps.

Some limited control, plenty of sendhome, some favor abuse, and touch of death for further control. The one thing I'm really looking forward to is desperate battling a houhou, and then sitting home and using stronghold and kurumi. I am really sad that To Move the Shade is not coming back.

What do you guys think? I worry that I don't have enough dishonor built in, and that I'll need to include Game of Sincerity. I guess i could just scoop for an early shigenobu.

Onaka?
Outer walls?
I have not included temple of tsukune, because not including it allows me to use more limited actions to bow out my personalities, and still have an unbowed defender. Also, I will always want Holy Site to come out, as it essentially ensures me another turn of life.

Did Bayushi Kurumi get reprinted?
(I'm assuming yes, since you're using him, but if not, what about maybe using Doji Kishio as the extra Courtier? Fits in with Favor abuse. Or perhaps just Doji Hatashi because he's crazy cheap.)

I'm curious how Holy Site works for you. It's a card I'm pretty skeptical about.

Asako Katashi is one of your Shugenja/Magistrates. Why only one? I thought he looked pretty solid, even if only for use on your own dudes, especially since you can't share anymore.

Ring of Air maybe? You're running 15 copies of 6 different spells, and the straightening might be really nice.

This deck actually seems pretty solid for the very beginning of the arc. It does seem slow for an Honor deck, but it looks strong enough to hold out against most military and the dishonor will be slowing down any honor decks you play. Make sure to tell us how it goes.

Yep! Both xp and non-xp.

Me too. I'll let you know how it works. Theoretically, it should buy honor decks one additional turn, which is usually all they need.

So many keywords, I just assumed "unique" was one of them. Will change.

Duh. My mistake!

I'm excited to give it a shot, and I'll let you know how it goes.

phoenix has always had the 2 trait problem. its usually been shug/sam, but for this deck it's a toss up between shug/sam/courtier/duelist/imperial/magistrate. when we in denver were originally playing around with how the deck could work with more than 2 traits as focus we would get the cards that supported one theme out of fate and the personalities that it didnt support out of dynasty like half the time. at that point we built 2 distinctly different decks. one was imperial magistrates with solid battle actions, the other was an imperial courtier deck with limited phase control. we had to have played at least 50 games with each. the magistrate deck was pretty good, but there were matches that it just flopped like a fish on the floor, it couldn't touch western steepe, crab out of shattered peak, or the EHP mantis deck. three of the best mil decks in a military heavy environment and it wasn't that great against any of them. even with some revamping it wasn't that strong. when we had the imperial courtier deck started we didn't have dueling in it. it was really just a scorp deck out of phoenix, that was trying to bleed an opponent out while holding down dishonored guys. the problem for it was lion high honor via asa (which wasn't a problem if you got kaukatsu  ) and the crane suicide dueling honor.we put dueling into the deck one duel at a time, we started with imperial adjudication, as it is one of the best dishonor punishment cards in the game, then impromptu, then we added the battle duels to finish the deck's innately high focus. you honestly only need 5 duelists in a deck to be able to duel effectively, with is a good minor theme for a deck. the best way to capitolize on shigenobu is to kill the guy he hits. when you need to concern yourself with 2 major and one minor theme kyogen is my hero. if you don't mind 2 sets of out of clan guys kuronada is a beast, with your champ and ikokawa, you have 5 5 chi duelists, which lets you dilute your focus pool a little, then get into jank land with tradtions of steel if you have to do it.

just what i have found working the best for me.
