Further pertaining to the question, I constructed this URL for a search of the Legendary L5R shop database, looking for any cards that were CE legal and contained the text "if this shugenja has".

I came up with the following (conveniently all spells):
Cleansing the Path
Seeking the Ancestors
Thunder's Favor

... so there wasn't much else for me to remember.

Easier to just search celestial spells for the different element traits. There are a few more spells that key off of element traits that don't have that exact phrasing. There are some spells that attach free or cheaper if the shugenja has the relevant element trait, or where he doesn't have to bow to cast them.

As for this guy, I would like to point out that he has more chi and personal honor than any other shugenja at 5g or less. As Hitsu-Do fodder he kills a much larger percentage of enemy personalities than Kyoko. He has more PH and chi than Ueda at the same cost now, and just as many element traits. Well, no cavalry, but you can't have everything. Still, I don't think he's a complete coaster, as there are good ways to blow him up if you need to, and I don't think he's too likely to self-destruct.

I am also trying to find a spell that seems to be a phantom half the time, but I could swear it exists. It attaches to an earth shugenja for free and gives all earth shugenja in your army +1 force or something like that. I think it's from harbinger but it doesn't show up on L5Rsearch and the copy of it I thought I had seems to have disappeared. Anybody else know what I'm talking about or am I going crazy?

Hurray! It really does exist and I am not going crazy! I think I have a copy of it somewhere. Either that or I am still going crazy.

Imagine this in a deck with Direct Approach. All their attackers will be neutered before they even declare!

They should have made him Air and Earth. Then all of the elements would have been covered. The obvious reasons for this thought would be Unstoppable Power and Advanced Spellcraft. IF Kusadao were Air and Earth, he would have been more playable. As he is now, probably still junk.

But why is the reasoning sound that he should be Air and Earth? Well his potential to be doomed to dig his own grave, of course. And don't forget the Magic Mud!

Well at least I am attempting to build an alchemist honor runner, focusing on RA defense out of CoT. This guy looks like he just cant squeeze in over other essential honor running peeps like Kyoko (exp), Daigotsu Oki; or even Isawa Akihiro (built in RA, BtV proof, 4PH).

the biggest thing that turns me on to CoT for honor is the surprise thunderous report vs the big green neon sign saying "control me" over the personality's head when i played it out of SoC.

I personally like kusadao, myself.

CoT RA honor does sound rather interesting, though.
